As a waiter or waitress, your primary responsibility is to provide excellent service to customers in a restaurant or other food service establishment. This includes taking orders, delivering food and drinks, and addressing any concerns or complaints that customers may have. You must also be knowledgeable about the menu items and able to make recommendations based on customer preferences.
In addition to serving customers, you will also be responsible for ensuring that the dining area is clean and well-maintained. This can include setting tables, refilling condiments, removing used dishes and utensils, and wiping down surfaces. Depending on the establishment, you may also be required to assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables or assembling salads.
